There is a deficiency of self-sustained centers that meet international requirements for
validating traditional medicines especially for HIV/AIDS in the Southern Africa Network for
Biosciences (Samba) countries, hence the need to pull resources together for better
development. The overarching aim of this project is to identify these capacities with a view
of harnessing the expertise through sharing responsibilities and resources for consolidated
out-put. The region must conduct research on herbal remedies aimed at improving public
health and support training of its people to meet future research challenges.
