The Second African Ministerial Conference on Science and Technology gave its approval to a broad-ranging five-year "consolidated plan of action" for promoting science and technology across Africa.
The meeting was attended by ministerial delegations from more than 30 African countries, as well as representatives of a number of Western governments, who have been supporting the plan of action as a framework for providing financial support for individual scientific and technological initiatives.
